Frenzy

Frenzy - Anne Sexton

I am not lazy.
I am on the amphetamine of the soul.
I am, each day,
typing out the God
my typewriter believes in.

Very quick. Very intense,
like a wolf at a live heart.
Not lazy.

When a lazy man,
they say,
looks toward heaven,
the angels close the windows.

A Poem by Anne Sexton

Auralgasms: Shoegazer Music

Shoegazer was a term used to define bands that produced Noise/Pop/nu Psychedelic sounds during the early 90's. These bands weren't mainstream, however their work was superior to their contemporaries. What could possibly define a shoegazing band is layered & distorted guitars, mellow vocals, two or more rhythms coalesced in a single track and loads of noise. Majority of shoegazing bands have split, disbanded or joined other projects.

The following are my current favourite shoegazing bands(yes, they looked at their shoes while playing the guitars - pedals & stuff) - My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Ride.

My Bloody Valentine
My Bloody Valentine has released two albums, of which Loveless - (Listen) is often regarded as THE album of 90's.

Check the videos, all the bands have a common theme - mildly deprecating (bear in mind - these guys were indie acts).

My Bloody Valentine - Only Shallow

My Bloody Valentine - Knows When

Slowdive
My favourite among the shoegazers - Slowdive. Bother listening to "Souvlaki Space Station."
Slowdive - Catch the Breeze

Ride
Ride hasn't got the attention it deserved.Eventually, they split - their guitarist Andy Bell is now a member of Woe-a sis(Oasis...Wonderwall fame)

..........Vapour Trail is gem of a song.

Ride - Vapour Trail

Sing along.....

Vapour Trail

First you look so strong
Then you fade away
The sun will blind my eyes
I love you anyway
Thirsty for your smile
I watch you for a while
You are a vapour trail
In a deep blue sky

Tremble with a sigh
Glitter in your eye
You seem to come and go
I never seem to know
And all my time
Is yours as much as mine
We never have enough
Time to show our love

More to come on Impressionism

Tom Cruise goes Bang Bang Bang....COLLATERAL

If you would ask me for a favourite "film-which-goes-awry-after-first-half," this would be up there. Collateral starts on a good note, fantastic cinematography here. Subdued Tom Cruise - love the way he says " It's Karma...I Ching "

Tom Cruise goes Bang Bang Bang...... YouTube Link.
This is among my favourite sequences - Mr.Mann has choreographed it so well.

How I wish I could shoot people like that, just like that. Hollywood, are ye listening?

Miles Davis : A tribute to Jack Johnson

Miles(1926-1991).. from Illinois. Every musicophile kid (born after 1970) worth his ass knows him. He's been through it all - drugs, quartets, quintets, women, scathing criticism, pop hits..everything Post-Bebop.

One of his albums, A Tribute To Jack Johnson stands apart from his oeuvre. It stands as a confluence of Progressive Rock - Funk - Jazz. With two tracks, it's a classic. Other artists featuring on the tracks are McLaughlin(g), Cobham (d), Henderson(b), Grossman(soprano saxophone), Hancock(p).

For those with balmy ears, "My Funny Valentine" is your pick.

Meanwhile, see this - You Tube Video & illasounds Jazz-Mix for the day

My favourite Ghazals

Ghulam Ali is one of a kind.

One needn't scratch his brains on the subject matter here.

I was heartbroken, my bitch (woof!) had left me..
A year later, this guy consoled me, rather told me that sad is beautiful. Every time he sings a ghazal, he makes it unique.. a new sher, longer aalap, different ada etc. A true hallmark of a genius - the emotion never leaves you, it lingers - like the crepuscule following the Sun.

फ़ासले ऐसे भी होंगे ये कभी सोचा न था
Lyricist: Adeem Hashmi
Singer: Ghulam Ali

Thanks a gazillion :http://ghazallyrics.wordpress.com/

इतनी मुदत बाद मिल हो
Lyricist: Mohsin Naqvi
Singer: Ghulam Ali

(thanks to me)

Have ye been to Goa??

This sculpture is one of it's kind. Hypnotism.

Ah..it's you ! Well, I didn't intend on blogging. But shit happens.

The blog, as expected, will be a classic kitsch and full of commas, as you shall witness.
